About the Artist
Chris Huntington was born in upstate New York,
the youngest of three and the only daughter of an Air Force Officer.
Her passion for art began at a very early age. Drawing, painting,
and creating of any kind were always her favorite pastimes.
Other than the usual art classes in the first
12 years of schooling, Chris has never had any kind of formal training
in art. She began painting in earnest in her early twenties, but,
it was just a hobby at the time for fun and relaxation. It was not
until her mid thirties that she was encouraged to put herself out there
as an artist and make a career of it. It was then that she began
exhibiting her work and taking on commissions. Her specialty was
portraitures. Over the years she has expanded her interests and her
work has become quite diverse. She still loves to paint people, but
will paint just about anything that strikes her fancy. Chris has
always worked with bright colors and has an eye for detail. She considers
herself a photo realist. She has done extensive traveling and finds
a great deal of her subject matter on her travels. "I believe my work speaks for itself and I don't feel a need to go into detail about each piece. I express myself much better through my work than in words. I want people to look at my paintings and have their own reaction/feeling about my work. There is something to be said for the mystery of a piece of art. It allows people to search inside themselves and draw their own conclusions."
Chris has done numerous shows, Art Festivals,
and private commissions since the mid 80's and has sold her work across
the country and in parts of Europe as well. She has exhibited in
shows and galleries in New York, California, and Florida. She currently
lives in Bradenton, Florida with her husband Steve and two cats.
